    trip summary1

Finally finished our 21 days trip(from 6th to 26th),supposedly out of Germany in the whole Europe, but ended up travelling within Germany for almost 2 weeks, only managed to visit Salzburg,Vienna and Budapest which is obviously not very nice,as u can see from the amount and quality of photos taken there. It was such an adventure and experience of a lifetime for lu li and me.Anyway it was a long story, for those of u who want to listen. We didn't know that our visa is only valid in Germany, thought it is equivalent to a Schengen visa,so we set off happily from Germany, visited Heidelberg and Mannheim b4 we went to Austria. No one checked our visa in Austria,so we went on happily to Budapest, but were asked to get down the train which goes from Budapest to Venice at the border of Hungary and Crotia. We didn't know the train would pass thru Crotia which is not an EU country,so they asked us to transfer trains and go from Slovenia instead. We spent a night at the train station and then arrived at this small village called Hodos which is at the border of Slovenia and Hungary. There we were taken to the police and our visa checked, but there was no problem,so the people from Hungary and Slovenia also didn't know/notice that our visa is only valid in Germany.Anyway Hodos is a nice village and we met a friendly family there who invites us for coffee and tea, chatted with us and even offered us internet. After that we started our journey to Venice, but were stopped again at the border of Italy and Slovenia. We stayed in the police station from early morning till noon, only to know in the end that our visa is only valid in Germany which means we can only travel within Germany=(So all our plans have to be cancelled. And they cannot send us straight back to Germany, they must send us back by the same route, through Slovenia,Hungary,Austria then back to Germany. So we spent one night at the Foreigners' House in Slovenia, paid a highly subsidised fine of 0.89 euro, had our fingerprints stamped and photo taken(sounds like prisoners). Then we spent 2 days at this 拘留所 in Hungary. We had a Chinese national as our interpreter. We were given 3 meals a day and also medicines for cough after we were checked by the doctor. The expenses during our stay were waived. But we hardly had any freedom during those 2 days,we were locked in a room. All our stuff were checked extremely carefully and we had to take off all our clothes in front of this female police officer who check our luggage(the same thing also happened in Slovenia). And all our valuables and things that can possibly aid us in suicidal attempts were taken away and locked,e.g.my shoelaces. So funny, haha. So we had our "fingerprinting and photo-taking session" again. Finally we were passed by the Hungary police to the Austria police. The Austria police did nothing but asked us to pay 180 euros each as a fine and they said that's the minimum amount. So ex!Then we had to take train back to Germany on our own.So we finally went back to Darmstadt after one week of "suffering" and torment.During this whole process I wasn't really scared, but those the police should at least show some pity towards us 2 young ladies.Anyway this is definitely a 传奇经历 which i believe most of u won't ever experience in ur whole life.So in another way,it's really an enriching experience.Afterwards,we decided to make full use of the remaining days on our 21 consecutive days Eurail Global Pass,so almost everyday we travelled to 1-2 city in Germany and by now we've finished visiting almost all famous cities in Germany. For details on our trip, feel free to browse thu the photos i've uploaded.Have fun!

    3rd day in Darmstadt

Bought a Kebab Doener for dinner tonight, but still dunno what's e meat inside,so kalb=calf=small bull?e kebab was quite big,can hardly finish by myself, but quite tasty.Notice a few things abt Darmstadt in the past 3 days:
1.There are many fat pigeons on the streets and they are not so afraid of pple.
2.There are also quite a number of dogs, some small, some big, diff breed, but all quite well-educated,except a small white one which barked in the Deutsche Bank. They all seem only concerned with their own business, never try to smell strangers.
3.There are a few beggars on the street, although our German teacher said this afternoon that the German govt will offer everyone a bed.But they all seem quite relaxed, unless those in Harbin who pretend to be handicap and bow to passersby persistantly.
4.There are so less few pple on the streets, one can easily find a bench on the streets and take a rest while enjoying the surroundings and appreciating nature at one's own ease.

    first day in Germany

finally settled in the studentenwohnheim Karlshof this afternoon, after arriving at Frankfurt airport this morning at 5:30.it has been a really tiring day for me,coz i had to carry 37.6kg of luggage and one of the wheels of my case dropped off due to its bad quality.and it was raining lightly almost the whole day in Darmstadt.coz i arrived too early in the morning, there was no one to pick me up,so i had to find the bus stops, carry up and down my heavy luggage and drag them from Luisenplatz to TUD all by myself.it was such manual torture,my arms and hands nearly ran out of power.luckily in the end Frau Nothnagel's car appeared near TUD,her appearance was such a spirit uplifter for me.after going to her office,2 v nice German students,Alexander and Florian showed me around. In e afternoon went to e Hbf with Frau Nothnagel to pick up 14 Brazilian guys.I didn't expect this WG to be mixed, but the arrangement seems fine coz 2 girls share 1 toilet+bathroom.Karlshof looks horrible from e outside becoz of all e ugly construction works but it's find inside.e lift was so old that one has to wait for a sudden slight stop down after ard 3 seconds after the lift seems to first come to a stop. All in all,Darmstadt looks better than i expected and the air here is also quite fresh.bought a 1.5L bottle of mineral water which cost only 0.44 euro of which 0.25 is refundable when u return e plastic recyclable bottle back,so e water here is quite cheap actually.Ok,have to sleep early now alr...looking forward to muscle pain tmr=(
